The staff of Anton Community Newspapers has lost a good friend and faithful co-worker. Carol Pytel, traffic manager for our art department for many years, passed away on July 15 after her remarkably brave battle with cancer.
Carol’s courage and determination to fight the disease that took her from us was nothing less than phenomenal.
The example she presented to us by the way she led her life and continued to work during her many difficult days, made our day-to-day trials and tribulations in the world of weekly newspapers seem trivial. A gracious and practical person, Carol went about her work while fighting her disease in a manner that took our breath away. Her ever-present good nature will long be remembered. We are deeply saddened to lose her and she will be greatly missed by all of us.
Carol was very creative, a craftsperson, who enjoyed working on projects for her home in Bellmore and loved tending to her garden. We are heartened to know that she was able to spend some time in her garden during her last few months.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Carol’s daughters, Nicole and Jenna, to whom she was devoted.
