Roslyn Board Meeting

There will be a meeting of the Roslyn Public Schools Board of Education on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. in Roslyn High School. The board will continue its deliberations about a bond referendum for capital projects, and welcomes the input of residents on this very important undertaking. DiPietro Receives Gold Star Teacher Award

Roslyn High School teacher Jennifer DiPietro is the recipient of the 2012-2013 Gold Star Teacher Award. Her class achieved a 90 percent pass rate on the WISE Financial Literacy Certification Test. Gold Star Teachers are honored at W!SE’s annual MoneyPower Conference for Financial Literacy in New York City  on Nov. 5. Roslyn High School Principal Dr. Scott Andrews said, “Congratulations on your students’ success. Your preparation was stellar.”


Roslyn High School Homecoming

Set for Sept. 28; to feature parade, football and marching band 


The annual Roslyn High School Homecoming celebration will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28. The community is invited to enjoy the Homecoming Parade beginning at 11:30 a.m. in front of Roslyn High School.  The parade will go through the Village of Roslyn and conclude at the high school.


Participating in the parade are the Roslyn fire departments, students, staff, parents, clubs and teams.


Principal Dr. Scott Andrews encourages the community to carry their enthusiasm and spirit from the parade into the football game scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and cheer on the Roslyn Bulldogs against LI Lutheran.  The Marching Bulldogs, Roslyn High School’s marching band, will perform during halftime.

Christian Youth Camp At Tilles

LIU Post’s Tilles Center recently hosted the opening ceremony of International Youth Fellowship’s IYF World Camp, which ran from Aug. 18-22. The Global Christian Organization brought 1,500 young people from around the world to the

Greenvale campus. The opening event featured South African, Korean and American cultural dances, along with a performance of the Gracias Choir. Notables ranging from Kenya’s Consul General Charles Munyao to Tobias Harris of the

Orlando Magic were in attendance. 


“Don’t be hopeless looking at today’s problems. Have hope for tomorrow,” Pastor Ock Soo Park, founder of IYF, said in the welcoming address. “By opening and sharing your hearts, you can solve problems together and make tomorrow a little better than today.”
