Plandome Soccer Club was created for soccer players looking for something in addition to their intramural team. “Our club will not replace that - we will not have an intramural league, nor will we expect you to not join one, the club states. “Rather, our players will play both with their intramural friends in one league, and against other clubs in ours. Our teams will be registered and insured through SAY soccer, www.saysoccer.com, a member of the United States Soccer Federation.
“The goal of Plandome Soccer Club will be to keep the emotional and physical development of the player as its focus, regardless what level of play. We will insure that players are on the field for half of each game, and lower costs through corporate sponsorship.
“Recreational Leagues will allow children to have fun without the pressures, scores, standings, and costs of Long Island’s current travel program. Yet they will have an organized league to allow friendly competition with neighboring clubs. (Team registrations for Recreational Leagues will be free for this inaugural fall season.)
“NorthEast Travel Leagues will offer game scheduling flexibility - the ability to schedule games on your club’s off days, double-headers to minimize travel, and a wider diversity of opponents with teams from New York City, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Westchester, Rockland, Connecticut, Suffolk, and Nassau available to participate.
“The divisions for the Fall of 2009 will be: U8 Developmental, U9 Pre-Travel, U10 and U11 Recreational, and U10 and U11 Northeast Soccer League. In addition to the above teams, we will also have our own program for special needs athletes, with the goal of fielding participants in time for the September 12 Fall Classic of Special Olympics New York, held at Cantiague Park.”
