On Sunday, May 6, the Nassau Region of Hadassah held a Walkathon for Stem Cell Research. The walk took place on locations throughout Long Island. Over 400 members and their family and friends of the Nassau chapters participated in the event.
Sarah Tract, a ninth grade student at Jericho High School, raised $1,500 through the support from her family and friends. Through her mother, Sharon Tract, past president of the Roslyn chapter, Sarah knows that Hadassah members have been advocates for stem cell research at the state and federal levels for more than a decade.
Monies from the walkathon will help advance the research at the Hadassah Medical Organization in Israel, whose scientists are pioneers in the field.
