The Roslyn High School girls’ volleyball team is still playing winning ball in Conference IV play, even though they have dropped off the pace in recent play.
After defeating Plainview JFK, 7-2 on April 24, the Lady Bulldogs lost to both Seaford and Mepham, while taking an exciting two overtime win over archrival Jericho, 13-12. Roslyn’s win over Jericho was a home game, the two defeats were tough losses on the road. In the loss to Seaford, Allison Schneider had six goals, while Julia Saltzman came up with 12 saves in a losing effort. Saltzman had 10 saves in a close 12-11 loss to Mepham, while Allison Schneider led the scoring attack with five goals.
In the win over Jericho, the sister team of Reilly and Mackenzie Liotta led the Lady Bulldogs to victory. Reilly’s unassisted goal in the second overtime proved to be the winning tally. Meanwhile, Mackenzie had nine saves as the Roslyn goalie. Allison Schneider, once again, was the leading scorer with three goals. Nicole Korn and Lexi Singer had two goals each.
Later this month, the Lady Bulldogs will take on Wheatley and MacArthur as they hope to leapfrog into championship contention in conference play.
