Golf Outing A Big Success

CAPS honors John J. Corrado

Supporters of the Roslyn-based Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) teed off against child abuse and neglect at the 15th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Services Golf Outing at the The Muttontown Club in East Norwich, raising $60,000 to benefit the both CAPS Bully Prevention Center and its prevention efforts through education programs.

The event also saw the presentation of the Eighth Annual John Davis Memorial Award to Bay Shore resident, John J. Corrado, president of Suffolk Transportation Service, the largest bus company in Suffolk County. The award, named for the founder of the CAPS Golf Outing and a former member of CAPS’ Executive Advisory Board, was given to John in recognition of his commitment to the well-being and safety of Long Island’s children, which he has demonstrated in both his professional and private life.

“John has been a true advocate for child safety,” said Alane Fagin, executive director.  “We applaud his efforts at Suffolk Transportation Service and in the community through his non-profit and philanthropic endeavors that ultimately serve toward improving the lives of children on Long Island.”

In this past school year, CAPS presented programs in more than 1,500 Long Island classrooms to 37,000 children.  “The proceeds from this event will help underwrite the presentation of CAPS’ prevention through education programs to school age children,” added Fagin. “We’re grateful to all those who took part in our outing to support our efforts to keep every child safe from harm.”
