Buckley Headmaster, Dr. Jean-Marc Juhel is pleased to announce the appointment of Roney Eford as new Athletic Director and Director of Diversity.
Mr. Eford is a graduate of Berkshire School, a Massachusetts boarding school, and Marquette University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in communication. Mr. Eford went on to Cardinal Stritch University and received a Master of Science in sport management. He is now a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Wisconsin.
Mr. Eford has had a remarkable basketball career. At Marquette University he was a four-year starter, with his team playing in the NCAA tournament three out of the four years he was a student-athlete there. Between 1996 and 2003, Mr. Eford played professional basketball internationally, in Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, China, and Korea, as well as at home in the CBA and USBL.
In 2004 and for the next two years, Mr. Roney Eford was the General Manager and Head Coach for the Philadelphia Squires, the New Jersey Flyers, and the Brooklyn Wonders.
Since 2007, he has been teaching physical and health education and coaching basketball in charter schools, where he has also been an athletic director and student advisor.
Mr. Eford is the Founder and Executive Director of Pinnacle for Youth, an organization dedicated to helping youth achieve exceptional academic and athletic goals.
In addition to being Buckley’s Athletic Director, Mr. Eford will also hold a senior leadership position on Buckley’s administrative team as Director of Diversity. As such he will report directly to the Headmaster and lead the school’s effort to become a truly multi-cultural and inclusive community. He will be a member of all search committees, provide professional development for teachers, and offer support and guidance to all students and families in the school, specifically with regards to issues of diversity and inclusiveness.
Mr. Eford says that he has a passion to assist students reach their full potential in life and reach their life long educational and fitness goals. According to Dr. Juhel, “This is exactly the goal that we have for all of our students, and I am thrilled that Mr. Eford is joining the Buckley team to help and inspire all of our students reach their goals.”
