Dan Grabher Named All American

In addition to celebrating their 40th season as a varsity program and advancing to the Nassau County semi final round playoff game, North Shore’s 2013 men’s lacrosse team celebrated a big first. At the Nassau County Coaches Association end of the year dinner held June 12, senior Dan Grabher was named  “All American” as well as Nassau County

“Midfielder of the Year.” He is the first North Shore player ever to receive these awards.

The team captain finished the season with 43 goals and 43 assists while also grabbing 224 ground balls. Perhaps his biggest contribution to the team was wining a county high 84 percent faceoff percentage including two perfect games where he won every faceoff.

Coach Joe Gallina said of Grabher, “Danny is the best player I have ever coached and he is the best leader I have ever coached.”

Grabher will take these leadership and lacrosse skills to West Point where he will don the gray cadet uniform and wear the Black and Gold of Army Lacrosse.

In addition, several members of the Vikings grabbed post-season accolades. Named “All County” were senior attack man Brian Goetz and sophomore defenseman Jack

Goettelmann. Senior Rich Hajok and sophomore Chris McGinley were named All County honorable mention, while Mike Dileo, Matt Gleckler and John Lennon were named all conference.
