Congratulations to Roslyn Heights endurance athlete Lois Polesky, who successfully completed the Long Island Greenbelt Trail 25 Kilometer Run on Saturday, May 9.
The 55 year old Polesky completed the 15.5 mile course from the Plainview trailhead on Sunnyside Boulevard to the Cold Spring Harbor terminus of the Trail and back in 3 hours, 34 minutes, 56 seconds, placing her 70th overall.
The Run was conducted by the Greater Long Island Running Club under the direction of veteran Race Director Nick Palazzo, with a total of 92 finishers in the 25K and another 38 finishers in the accompanying 50 Kilometer Run. A portion of the proceeds will be turned over to the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference to support the good work that the Conference does to maintain and protect Long Island’s network of trails.
“Our thanks to Lois Polesky and the other runners for supporting this important event,” stated Race Director Nick Palazzo. “They are superb athletes and we are thrilled that they opted to join us for this year’s Run.”
