Alzheimer's Adult Day Health Care Program

At the United Presbyterian Residence, 378 Syosset-Woodbury Rd., Woodbury. Designed to assist families in caring for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Open 7 days from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Program provides the following services: nursing, recreation therapy, social work, nutrition, rehabilitation therapy, a nutritious lunch and snacks which can accommodate a variety of therapeutic diets, a family support group and transportation to and from the program. Clients may be of any age, wheelchair bound or incontinent. Private pay and Medicaid accepted. For additional information call 921-0517.

Bible Study Group

An interesting and relevant study of the Bible is offered by the Community Church of Syosset, 36 Church St. on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. Led by Rev. Stephen Carnahan, the focus of the group is discussion of how biblical insights apply to daily life. A course at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesdays is possible if you call with your interest. No advance notice is necessary for Tuesday night classes. Just come in.

Support Groups for Parents, Couples, Children

Volunteers Needed

The LI Division of F.E.G.S., a 63-year-old, not-for-profit multi-service agency, is seeking volunteers. Positions available throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. F.E.G.S. will train applicants. Companions needed for the Buddy Program for People With AIDS.
To field telephone calls from clients seeking to connect with services, to work with homeless clients to help them learn job and life skills, and to learn how to advocate for people before government agencies.

Winter Camp

Come spend the winter break at the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary. There's lots to see and do. Spend the week or just sign up for a day. Participants will find out how animals survive the cold, who has left their tracks in the snow, and will have fun playing games. Dec. 29, 30, 31, Jan. 2. Cost per week $100 members, $120 nonmembers; cost per day $30 members, $35 nonmembers.
