Staples Robbed

Crime Stoppers and the Nassau County Police Department are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating the person responsible for committing a robbery in Jericho.

On Sunday, December 7 at approximately 4:35 p.m., a male attempted to purchase computer equipment at Staples, located at 84 Jericho Turnpike. The American Express credit card that he used was found to be fraudulent by the sales clerk. When the clerk refused to return the card, the subject went behind the counter and grabbed the clerk's arm while attempting to grab the card. The subject then left the store and returned a short time later with his right hand concealed in his jacket as if he had a gun. He ordered the clerk to return the card and, feeling threatened by the subject's actions, the clerk handed the card back to the subject. The subject exited the store and fled southbound on foot.

The subject is described as a black male, 35 years old, 6 feet tall, about 140 pounds with a thin build. He had brown hair, a mustache and was wearing a waist length leather jacket and blue baseball cap.

Anyone with information regarding this crime should call the toll-free hotline 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers remain anonymous and do not have to reveal their identity or testify in court. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward.
