The St. Edward Monarchs continued their unbeaten streak with a 9-3 victory over St. Martin this past Saturday, May 1. The Monarchs remain in first place in the 8th Grade Division of CYO of Nassau-Suffolk Travel Baseball League.

Alex Regruto continued his stellar play at shortstop, making 2 dazzling plays in the late innings, while connecting for 3 extra base hits at the plate. Solid defense by catcher David Long, infielders Paul Genovese and Chris Sulfaro, and outfielders Jimmy Kursar, Chris Swann, Andrew Hovance and Frank Bossio was a key factor in this victory. Michael Reens turned in another strong perfomance on the mound to collect his third win of the season. Danny Nawrocki and Schuyler Saltiel provided sound relief pitching by not allowing any runs in the final 3 innings.
