Memories Memorabilia, The Green Machine, opened their season with a hard-fought 40-19 win over Matalia on Sunday, December 6 in a game that was a lot closer than the score indicated.
After a halftime score of 10-10, the Green Machine caught fire. Led by Josh Morey (15 pts.), Daniel Gaffan (6 pts.), Greg Silverman (5 pts.), Jon Schecter (5 pts.), Tod Stearn (4 pts.), Harris Fein (4 pts.) and Jason First (1 pt.), Green couldn't be stopped.
Brad Reisman played a very powerful game up front, providing strong rebounding, never allowing Matalia to get close to the basket. Dino Suric and Justin Berger supplied a strong defensive game, making pinpoint passes that led to many easy baskets for their teammates.
Matalia played a spirited game, led by Matt Lieberman, Kyle Shiner and Daniel Palmieri, with two points each. Playing strong defense for Matalia were Jason Gold, Jason Pollack, Ike Machover, Evan Shusterhoff and Alex Siegel.
On December 6 at Seaman Elementary School, Noth Shore Day Camp defeated Jericho Teachers Association in the first game of the season for both teams in the highly competitive 3rd Grade Boys division of the Jericho Basketball League.
North Shore came out very strong in the game, able to build a comfortable lead by the first period's end. Jericho Teachers played valiantly in trying to close the gap, but North Shore, led by Russel Taff and Zack Jennis in the forecourt and Max Landow in the backcourt, proved too strong and too deep.
Jericho Teachers received strong performances from Andrew Braunstein, Justin Bachman and Jared Hochman.
