Starflower Experiences Turns 10
Mankind's negligent mistreatment of the planet has been going on far longer than Laurie Farber, one of Jericho's most outspoken environmental advocates, has been appealing to fellow Long Islanders to save it. But as her homegrown educational, environmental organization, Starflower Experiences, reaches its watershed 10th anniversary, Farber can look back and realize that, while 10 years cannot reverse decades of neglect, her efforts might very well have a measurable ripple effect in the decades to come.

Fashion and Passion
Four hundred women feasted their palates on catered meals, and feasted their eyes on a glamorous fashion show in the confines of Woodbury Jewish Center's grand ballroom, where the synagogue's sisterhood held its annual major fund raiser, collecting money for a variety of services and charities, perhaps the most meaningful of which is the Friends of Allison organization.

Local Scout Troop Joins 'GirlSports 2000' Program
Thousands of girls throughout the country, including Syosset's local Girl Scout Troop #3419, will be participating in a new program this year¬initiated by the Girl Scouts of the USA¬called GirlSports 2000, from January 1 through December 31. These girls will participate in a series of sporting activities in their respective Girl Scout troops/groups.
