DOT Agrees to Nighttime Paving
New York State Department of Transportation Regional Director Craig Siracusa announced on June 3 that the repaving of Jericho Turnpike Route 25, in Woodbury, between South Woods Road and Woodbury Road, will take place only during evening hours to alleviate further traffic problems and to ease the financial burden of local merchants affected by the road congestion.

Rally Organized to Preserve Underhill
In the latest effort to catalyze governmental involvement in purchasing the former Underhill property in Jericho, residents last week officially formed a not-for-profit corporation called the Society to Preserve Underhill, with Oakwood Princeton Park Civic Association leader Joseph Lorintz acting as president.

The Lifetime Hoan A's captured the 5th and 6th Grade Boys regular-season title in exciting fashion as they swept both games last weekend, finishing the regular season with an astonishing 13-1 record. The Brewers, who lost their first game of the season on Sunday, June 6, finished in second place at 11-1-1.

SYAC Girls Softball Pony League
It looked like May 26 was the night for ARF's winning streak to be broken. Clarisse Baluyot was pitching for Syosset Rocks with precision and speed. Through the first three innings she struck out five batters and held ARF scoreless. Baluyot continued to overwhelm ARF when she got a clutch hit in the third inning, scoring two runs to put her team ahead 3-0.
