Former New York Yankees and Mets pitcher Jack Aker, a Syosset resident, will be holding tryouts for his 10-and-under winter baseball team, which will be playing in a 10-week indoor league in Hauppauge. The season will run from November until February. Team members will play in all games and participate in Aker's intensive instructional classes.

Aker spent 30 years in professional baseball and still holds the Yankees record for consecutive scoreless innings pitched. He managed in the Mets farm system for eight years, was twice named Manager of the Year, and has won national awards for coaching children since starting his academy in 1988.

For more information or a tryout, call 921-5358.
