The Kobak family's devotion to helping grow the game of tennis has earned them the prestigious 1999 United States Tennis Association/Eastern Section Family of the Year Award.

Dorothy Kobak, honored that her family was selected by the USTA/Eastern Section for its countless hours of devoted service and commitment to increasing the popularity of tennis in its regional community, said, "I feel this is the greatest sport a family can participate in. Tennis has made our family stronger and has helped instill the values of sportsmanship in our children, as well as provided an opportunity for community service by giving back to the sport we love."

"On behalf of our family, we wish to thank the entire tennis community and all those friends who chased down so many balls, making this great 'game for a lifetime' for adults and children possible."

Past regional recipients honored with this award include the John P. McEnroe family.
