'No Mall Here': BCA Holds Rally Protesting Taubman Project
Hoisting picket signs bearing such slogans as "No Mall Here", "No Town Land" and "Getting Mauled by Malls", several hundred local residents convened along Robbins Lane in Syosset on Saturday morning, Nov. 20 to protest the Michigan-based Taubman Co.'s proposal to build a one million-square-foot upscale mall on the former Cerro Wire industrial site.

Chamber Readying for Holiday Festivities
Hoping to build off the success of last year's inaugural holiday ceremonies, the Syosset Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its second-annual Christmas and Chanukah downtown celebration. The festivities will take place at the Astoria Federal Savings Bank Plaza at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Underhill Blvd. on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m., rain or shine.

USA Team Tennis Junior News: Travel Teams Compete
On a day crackling with energy and excitement, USA Team Tennis Long Island junior competition started its season Nov. 13 with team from the Community Tennis Association of Old Westbury, The Brookvilles, Muttontown and Huntington Indoor Tennis competing in their first meet at Huntington Indoor Tennis.

Syosset Runner Wins 3rd Annual South Shore Sprint
Runners and walkers from the Syosset-Jericho area were out in force on Nov. 20 for the 3rd annual edition of the South Shore Sprint, a four-mile road race on the streets of Bay Shore, and when the dust settled, Syosset speedster Robis DiGerminci finished as the first runner overall out of nearly 400 finishers.
