In the 7th-8th grade division, the Hornets lifted their league-leading record to 10-1 as they erased the Lakers 65-44. Led by Scott Fridkin's all-around play, the offense of Jason Rosenfeld and the outstanding board work of Andrew Abbott and Ben Solof, the Hornets were never headed as they surged to double-digit victories and became the odds-on favorite to win the upcoming playoffs. Adam Gerstein, Scott Trimarchi and the "Nanikashvili Boys" (Steve and Jim) help round out the squad that has tormented the rest of the division.

In the 5th-6th grade division, the Sonics continued their winning ways, edging the Hornets 24-21 in a tightly contested defensive struggle. Three Hornets fouled out in this intense battle as Kyle Macchia (nine points) and Brandon Liebman (four points) led the Hornet attack. Jeffrey Auerbach (12 points) and Jason Raskin (eight points) helped keep the Sonics atop the division's standings.
