This is the third year that the relay has been hosted in early March by GLIRC and its racing team and GLIRC Vice President Ed Melnik was very happy with the turnout and by the positive feedack the club received about the event. "This was a great way for people to come out of hibernaiton after the winter and lots of people took advantage of the opportunity," Melnik obsered. "We were especially pleased to have so many local youngsters¬from Syuosset High School and other schools¬on hand for awhat has become an annual early spring tradition for the running commnity."
According to Coach Englehart, a few of the Syosset youngsters participated in the 1998 edition of the relay and they had such a great time that word of mouth brought a bigger turnout in 1999, and the biggest Syosset turnout so far in 2000.
