The Yankees resumed their season after a long lay-off with a thrilling 11-6 comeback win over the Angels on May 6 at Syosset-Woodbury Park. On the mound for the Yankees was fireballer Felicia Machover. She went the distance for her first win recording 11 strikeouts and three shut-out innings.

In addition to great pitching, the Yankees got great defense from the rest of the team including a spectacular 6 to 4 put out started by Allison Stogel. Stogel went deep in the hole to stop a hard grounder by Alyssa Hochfelder, then threw on to second to get the force.

On offense the Yankees were led by hard-hitting Heather Kaufman (3-4, 2 RBI), Rachel Klinghoffer (4-5, HR, 2 runs), Lauren Klinghoffer (3-4, 2 RBI) and Nicole Genchur (2-3, BB, 3 runs).

The Angels were led by Alexis Warren (3-4, 2 RBI) and Lauren Kessler (1-2, 3 RBI). On defense Hochfelder for Stogel back in the 5th inning by robbing her of a sure extra base hit with a sensational grab of a hot line drive at short.
