Frank and Marilyn Urso, co-owners and brokers of Long Island Village Realty Inc. in Syosset, have been busy lately. The Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce recently named Frank the Small-business Person of the Year and Marilyn recently attended the Women's Council of Realtors Leadership Training Graduate course "The Internet Professional" sponsored by the Long Island Chapter of WRC.
Frank was selected as Small-business Person of the Year for his years of dedicated service to The Syosset Chamber of Commerce, of which he is president, and his many contributions to the local community.
The chamber has been dedicated to revitalizing and empowering downtown Syosset and beautifying the area to benefit both the business community and the residents since its inception in Oct. 1998.
Over 300 people were in attendance at the 16th Annual Small-businessperson of the Year and Legislative Breakfast of the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce held in October Frank was honored by Nassau County Executive Thomas S. Gulotta with the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce Businessperson of the Year Award and a citation presented to him by Presiding Officer Judith Jacobs (D-Woodbury). Senator Carl Marcellino and Assemblyman David Sidikman also both joined Frank at the Syosset Chamber's table for breakfast and congratulated him on his accomplishments.
Frank is a true believer in the importance of giving back to the community, according to his wife, Marilyn. His company's slogan of "Service the Old Fashioned Way" extends far beyond his customers and clients. His dedication to community is best expressed in the quote: "We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give."
Frank has served the Nassau North Shore Chapter of the Long Island Board of Realtors as vice president in 1999 and president in 2000. Urso lives in Laurel Hollow with Marilyn and their three children.
Marilyn Urso recently attended the Women's Council of Realtors Leadership Training Graduate course "The Internet Professional" sponsored by the Long Island Chapter of WRC. The Women's Council of Realtors is a national association of real estate professionals dedicated to providing quality education and leadership training programs for its members.
The LTG designation, which Marilyn attained in 1999, recognizes real estate's top producers by helping them succeed in career leadership through a blend of education and experience. The LTG is the only recognition of professional leadership skills offered in the REALTOR community.
"With all the changes that have occurred in the real estate industry recently, Marilyn is dedicated to continuous learning to remain on the cutting edge," said Frank. "Her commitment to excellence is a key to our continued success.
