We would like to thank the East Birchwood Civic Association for supporting the 100 percent transportation proposition. We appreciate the time they spent listening to this issue.

At the last BCA meeting a member of the community complained about the traffic in and around the George A. Jackson Elementary School, especially in the morning. She was particularly upset with the cars that turn around in her driveway - mostly large SUVs.

Providing 100 percent busing would reduce this traffic. Moreover it would help decrease the number of cars riding on our streets during drop off and pick up hours. People are driving quickly, rushing to work or school, trying to be on time. Providing 100 percent busing is safer for everyone, the parents, the students and the residents of the Jericho community.

Only a handful of East Birchwood residents do not receive busing (74 families, 101 students). There are 27 students in West Birchwood and 57 students in Princeton Park who do not receive busing. All Syosset residents in East Birchwood get bused. Syosset has 100 percent transportation. Let's make Jericho a 100 percent transportation district as well. Please vote yes on May 15: Jericho High School noon - 10 p.m. Thank you.

Amy Ramson,

Rhonda Starr
