The Gaines Berland A's defeated the Body Worx Yankees on opening day of the Jericho Sixth-Grade Boys Baseball League by the score of 19-5. David Ackerman went the distance for the Gaines Berland A's and pitched brilliantly, while recording eight strikeouts. Max Rosenberg started for the Body Worx Yankees and also pitched great. Rosenberg was relieved by Josh Besserman, Ben Davis and Anthony Valente, all of whom had solid efforts.

After being held scoreless for the first two innings, the A's erupted with three runs in the third, six runs in the fourth, and 10 runs in the last two frames. The hitting barrage was led by Joey Stabile (3-for-4); Matt Loch (5 RBIs); Lucas Paley (2 hits, 2 RBIs); John Goldsmith, Adam Hyams and Ackerman (all with three runs scored). The Yanks hitting stars were Rosenberg (3-for-3), Thomas D'Eri, Davis and Matt Checkla.
