Registration for the Town of Oyster Bay Bow and Arrow Hunter Safety Clinic will be open from Monday, Aug. 20, through Friday, Sept. 14, according to Town Councilman Anthony D. Macagnone.

"During hunting season, safety is the most important factor," Macagnone said. "The Bow and Arrow Hunter Safety Clinic, which is open to town residents 14 years of age and older, is sponsored in cooperation with the New York State Conservation Department. It is taught by certified instructors provided by the state of New York. Following completion of Session II, students will be given a hunting license examination."

The Bow and Arrow Hunter Safety Clinic will be held in the large room of the Marjorie R. Post Park Community Center, Unqua and Merrick Roads, Massapequa. Students will be required to attend both sessions:

Session 1 - Saturday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Session 2 - Saturday, Sept. 22, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The examination for a hunting license will be given at the completion of this session.

Registration forms are available at all town parks, community libraries and town halls north and south. For information on the Bow and Arrow Hunter Safety Clinic, contact the Parks Department at 797-4126.

The councilman noted that applications for state hunting, fishing, trapping and big game licenses can be obtained at the Oyster Bay Town Clerk Offices, Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, and Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa. Both offices are open Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.
