Rescheduled for November 27
A hearing at the Town of Oyster Bay board meeting scheduled for Sept. 4 regarding the down-zoning of the Jericho Horse Farms was postponed until Nov. 27.
The property, located at 555 Jericho Turnpike, is currently zoned residential and the owners of the property are trying to change the zoning to commercial in order to build a three-story assisted living facility on the property.
The hearing was set to consider a proposed amendment to the code of the Town of Oyster Bay, Chapter 246 zoning on the application of Underhill LLC, fee owner and Forest City Daly Housing, LLC, contract vendee, for a change of zone from a C residence district to a NB Neighborhood Business District, formerly known as F Business District. The applicant also requested a special use permit to construct and operate an assisted living facility on 5.38 acres in connection with premises located approximately 757 feet east of the southeast corner of Marion Lane and Jericho Turnpike in Jericho.
According to a representative of the Town of Oyster Bay, the hearing was postponed as Assemblyman Michael Flannigan, the lawyer representing the residents and those against the construction, is also a legislator and had a prior legislative obligation in Albany.
Nov. 27 will mark the final hearing, on the town level concerning this property and all residents are encouraged to attend the 7 p.m. meeting at Town of Oyster Bay Hall, located on Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay.
