He was freed by police officers from the Emergency Services Bureau as well as volunteer firefighters who responded to the scene. After being freed, the victim was airlifted by police helicopter to the Nassau University Medical Center. Three other victims were taken to Nassau University Medical Center and the other four victims were taken to Winthrop University Hospital. All were listed in stable condition and there were no life threatening injuries.
The truck was impounded for safety checks. It is registered to R & M Consolidation Trucking in Staten Island.
