After training throughout the fall and finishing a season of winter play with an outstanding record of 9-1-2, the 5th/6th grade Jericho Lacrosse Club entered the 2002 spring travel season with great excitement. Starting off with a preseason game against the highly touted Bethpage team at Hofstra University, Jericho dominated every aspect of the game, winning 8-2. In its opening PAL league game against Glen Cove, once again, the Jericho squad showed tremendous poise and maturity, controlling the ball more than 90 percent of the game and quickly shutting down any opportunities by the Glen Cove offense. Jericho, once again, won the game with an 8-2 score.
Between both games, the Jericho defense, led by Harry Anscher, Danny Kanzer, Jordan Moskowitz and Brett Longo have virtually shut down any opportunities by the opposing Attack. The Jericho Attack, led by Jake Chazen, Max Zetlin, Dave Berliner and Michael Krantz, worked the ball around the net, peppering the goalie with countless shots and confusing the defense with constant movement.
The depth of the midfield has been key in maintaining the ball on offense. Led by Max Landow, William Holtz, Jeremy Cohen, Russell Taff, Jeremy Cohen, Ryan Lee and Jordan Brustein, the midfield was responsible for winning over 60 ground balls between both games.
Most impressive, was the incredible team work shown by the entire team. The passing, ball movement, communication and general "selfless" play was indicative of a team with years of experience.
Throughout both games, the play by goalie Wyatt Tichner was very impressive.
