RONNIE NICOLE 11 - FLOWTEST LLC 7

Flowtest took a 7-1 lead, but two big innings gave Ronnie Nicole the win. Ronnie Nicole's defense played well after allowing the initial seven runs. Remy November made four outs at second, fielded grounders flawlessly, had a few good hits and overcame a bruised leg to continue to play well. The lefty pitcher from Ronnie Nicole pitched well and fielded her position well. Flowtest left the bases loaded and tying run at the plate in the sixth inning.

FLOWTEST LLC 8 - MARINERS 3

Alexandra Ballensweig pitched a great game and hit a triple. She got out of a bases loaded, no one out, 3-1 count jam by striking out the side in a crucial part of the game, Cindy Navarro hit a two-run homerun and Stephanie Merson hit a three-run homerun. Brittni Rhoads caught a line drive, fly ball, which prevented the Mariners from having a big first inning.

TALCO'S PIZZA 18 - DUNKIN DYNAMOS 4

Talco's Pizza led by the pitching of Jaushree Nalendran and the hitting of Lauren Sugarman defeated the Dunkin Dynamos 18-4. Jaushree retired the side in order four of the six innings. Lauren went four for five with six RBIs. Fine defensive plays in the field were made by Heather Rosenblum and Katie Krafchuk and contributed to the victory.

WEALTH BUILDERS 5 - GCC ROCKERS 2

It was pitching a defense that led Wealth Builders to its first win. Alex Aaron went all the way for the victory backed by two double plays. Licia Avelar had the key hit in the three run third inning and started one of the double plays. Taylor Goulding started the other and played a flawless first base as well as having two hits. Rachel Riegel had two hits and made a key out in right field. Ali Cohen made two big plays at second. GCC was led by the pitching and hitting of Cara Sauarese. Nicole Castellano reached base twice.

HOMETRUST 15 - CEL-NET 0

Hometrust defeated Cel Net Communications 15-0 in their opening fame. The team, comprised of fourth and fifth-grade girls, dominated throughout the game, playing well in the field as well as at bat. Danielle Feldstein had two homeruns and seven RBIs as well as a double play executed with Danielle Afrin. There were terrific hits by Caitlin Judge, Jennifer Zink, Samantha Druckman, Marie Christie, Kristen Schultz, Malory Sanchez, Jenna Zaken, Julie Greenberg, Taylor Tully, Lauren Gershowitz and Delores Corrado.

PASTON INSURANCE 6 - CEL-NET COMMUNICATIONS 5

After a rainy week caused the postponement of their first two games, the Paston Insurance team finally played their first game against Cel-Net Communications. The two evenly matched teams played an exciting game and Paston Insurance won in a "come from behind win." For team Paston, Skylar pitched a terrific and complete game. It was a total team effort with contributions from everyone, but special mentions go to Katie Lolis, Dana Fried, Chelsea Green, Nicole Plsani and Skylar Kasman. For Cel-Net, a fine game was pitched by Kristen Carton and Jennifer Halpern in relief. A solo home run by Jennifer Ziplow and strong hitting performances from Kristen Carton, Jennifer Halpern and Stephanie Perry accounted for the five Cel-Net runs.

HOMETRUST 25 - FIELDSTONE BAKED PRODUCTS 4

Hometrust, in their second game of the season, defeated Fieldstone Baked Products by a score of 25-4. The team continued to show their strength at bat as well as in the field. Danielle Arfin made a great catch at first base. Every player hit and got on base. In addition to hitting, Danielle Feldstein pitched an incredible game.

CEL-NET 8 - PREMIER STAFFING 2

The game started late due to rain with Premier going down in the top of the first inning 1,2,3. Melissa Kaufman led off the bottom of the first for Cel-Net with a solid single followed by singles by Liza Roth and Kristen Carton to load the bases. Stephanie Perry hit a grand slam home run to center field.

Jennifer Halpern Cel-Net's starting pitcher then proceeded to strike out the side with two hitters reaching on errors, she struck out 5 of the 8 batters she faced and was the winning pitcher. The bottom of the second started off with two ground outs for Cel-Net and Melissa Kaufman again started things off with a walk followed by a double by Liza Roth. Kristen Carton drove the runs in.

Premier had a rally in the top of the third with Jessica Caplin leading off with a single followed by a ground out while she moved to second. Amy Dreisger then drove her home for Premier's first run with a single to right field and was followed by a hit batter and a walk. With 2 outs, Clara Goldman came through with a single to drive Amy home for their second run.

Cel-Net answered back in the bottom of the third with two more runs of their own with two singles by Jennifer Happern and Melanie Woerner to be followed by a nice hit by Brittany Gilstein to drive them in. Cel-Net then retired Premier after a hit batter with three straight ground outs in the fourth, The game was then officially called due to rain.

TIGERS & CEL-NET TIE 6-6

With a split second tag at the plate by catcher Deidra White, Cel-Net Communications held off a late inning rally by Access Staffing Tigers and preserved a 6-6 tie on May 3 in the SYAC Girls Softball Junior League.

The game was marked by outstanding pitching and sharp plays in the field. Lily Mummert struck out eight and walked just one batter through the first three innings for the Tigers. Zoe Saunders came on for the final three innings and blazed the ball over the plate. Cel-Net depended on a trio of hurlers: Stephanie Perry, Jennifer Halpern and Cristin Carton to keep the game close.

The Tigers steadily built a lead with one run in the first, two runs in the second, and a fourth in the third. The Cel-Net girls answered back with one run in the fourth. Cel-Net then put together a two-out rally for five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-4 lead.

Tight defense held the Cel-Net girls scoreless in the final sixth at-bat, and then the drama mounted. After a strikeout, the Tigers loaded the bases and scored on a hit batter. Bari Weingord then drove a hard shot toward first. She was thrown out, as Rose Bloomberg crossed the plate with the tying run. Zoe Saunders sprinted in from third base but was nipped at the plate for the final out.

Powering the Tigers were Lily Mummert, with two hits and two runs and two RBIs, Rose Bloomberg with two hits, one run and one RBI, and Brittany Zar with two hits, including a double. Jamie Landsman and Dani Peters made great throws from the outfield that held strong hitters to singles.

Outstanding offense for Cel-Net came off the bats of Stephanie Perry and Deidra White.

PASTON INSURANCE TOPS TIGERS 14-9

With a late inning rally that defied the odds, Paston Insurance overcame an eight run deficit and topped Access Staffing Tigers by a score of 14-9 on May 5 in the SYAC Girls Softball Junior League.

The Tigers built an early lead under the noonday sun at Syosset/Woodbury Park, scoring runs in each of the first three innings. However, tight defense by the Paston girls kept the Tigers scoreless in the second half of the game. After the Paston girls went ahead with nine runs in the top of the sixth inning, the Tigers fought back in the bottom half, loading the bases. With the tying run on deck, Jessica Coundouris hit a smash up the middle that was caught by pitcher Skylar Kasman, and the late threat went by the boards.

Hitting stars for the Paston girls were Skylar Kasman, who had three hits. Outstanding on offense for the Tigers were Brittany Zar and Zoe Saunders, who had three hits each. Michelle Breitstein and Christie Olivieri drove in two runs each.

Providing solid pitching for the Paston girls were Katie Lolis and Skylar Kasman. Taking the mound for the Tigers were Lily Mummert and Zoe Saunders.

HOMETRUST 28 - ACCESS TIGERS 1

Hometrust remains undefeated having won their third game against Access Tigers by a score of 28 - 1. Led by Julie Greeenberg's bases loaded triple the girls continued to bat and field exceedingly well. One of the outstanding plays in the field was a grounder scooped up by Danielle Arfin who replayed to Kristen Schultz at third base who then threw to Danielle Feldstein at first base for a double play, Jennifer Zink played well as catcher and did a fine job as relief pitcher her first game on the mound. Caitlin Judge, Lauren Gershowitz, Dolores Corrado, Mallory Sanchez and Marie Christie all hit repeatedly not only getting on base but also scoring RBIs.

MJUDD GIRLS 6 - PASTON INSURANCE 3

Great pitching and terrific fielding kept the game close as the Mudd Girls beat Paston Insurance 6-3. Alex Spector pitched and fielded spectacularly for the Mudd Girls. Casey Murphy was flawless at first base and hits from Peri Resenberg and Jordan Fontini helped the Mudd Girls to victory.

PASTON INSURANCE 7 - GUMMI BEARS 4

Paston Insurance defeated the Gummi Bears 7-4 in four innings. The girls were freezing, but they played hard. For Paston Insurance Katie Lolis pitched four solid innings in her first junior league start to pick up the win. Clutch hitting by Carly Wurman, Dana Fried, Lauren Margolis, Nicole Goldberg, Skylar Kasman and Chelsea Green helped ensure the win.

The Gummi Bears starting pitcher Marisa Salzman pitched well with a very solid relief pitching performance from Kimberly DiGangi. The Gummi Bears hitting attack was led by Alison Levine, Marisa Salzman and Rachel Franklin.

WOODBURY HAND WIZARDS 19 - TAXLAND TIGERS 6

The Woodbury Hand Wizards defeated a very determined Taxland Tigers team by a score of 19-6. The Wizards, after being down 4-3 after two innings, mounted an offensive assault, led by the power hitting of Andrea Zalin with 3 homeruns and 8 RBIs and some sparkling defensive displays by Hali Garber. Leading off for the Wizards, coming off an injury, was Taylor Coundouris with Alyssa Davidson, Elizabeth Sablesak, Carly Medrick, Samara Gilman, Renee Epstein, Jamie Warfield and Lisa Cohen contributing key hits. The Wizards featuring rookie coaches Alicia Epstein and Al Garber, evened their record at 1 and 1.

WOODBURY HAND WIZARDS 22 - HOMERUN HITTERS 4

The Woodbury Hand Wizards evened their season record at 2-2 with a strong offensive display on May 1 by defeating the previously undefeated Homerun Hitters 22-4. Once again in the late innings, the Wizards got their offense in gear with the entire team making contributions. Asha Svuesh, Lisa Cohn and Renee Epstein showed significant power at the plate with Rebecca Wreitz and Amanda Liebskind getting key hits in the 11 run fifth inning. The Homerun Hitters had an excellent game led by Kaitlyn Lesse, with several excellent plays in the field.
