Community Garden to Be Restored After Recent Construction
Residents for a More Beautiful Syosset has been working diligently to clean up and beautify Syosset since its inception a few years ago. One of the projects that members completed was turning the utility strip on Jackson Avenue into a 300 foot community garden. The garden was created and maintained by funds the group both raised and had donated.

Community Meeting Scheduled to Discuss New Fire House
The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Jericho Fire District will hold its monthly public meeting on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The board decided to devote this meeting to discussions, presentations and comments relative to the proposed construction project that will involve the erection of a new fire department headquarters building on North Broadway in Jericho.

Fourth Grade Travel Basketball Wins Game
Combining a balanced offense, big rebounding and great team defense, Syosset's fourth-grade travel basketball team won its first game of the season by beating a tough St. Dominics squad at the Island Garden, by the score of 27-23.

Syosset High School's Varsity Roller Hockey Club Starts Season
Syosset opened the season with a convincing 8 - 1 victory over Lynbrook. Steven Gaon led the scoring with four goals, while Jonathan Mosenson added two goals and two assists, and Andrew Stern added to the other two goals. Brian Rubin, Syosset's goalie, played an excellent game and allowed only one goal while facing 22 shots. Lynbrook's lone goal was scored by Max Stern. Syosset's defense was able to hold Lynbrook in check and Syosset's overall team play enabled them to dominate the game.
