Dr. Mario Macaluso was born in Italy in 1939 and he immigrated to the United States with his mother and sister when he was 18 years old. At that time, he didn't speak a word of English. The Woodbury Common's Mystics opened the 2002-2003 season with a 29-12 victory over the Andrew Marc Monarchs at Cantiague School. The Mystics were led by senior guards Shana Feibus and Alison Kinzer with 8 and 11 points, respectively. With the game close early on, the defensive play of Jessica Weingast and the scoring of freshmaan Marissa Terrasi, 4 points, Samantha Gordon, 4 points and Cole Snheider, 2 points, allowed the Mystics to pull away. Rachel Rosner, Jamie Scheinthal and Sanchita Menra played great games on both ends of the court for the Mystics.
