Mercy Pines Project On Hold
Residents for a More Beautiful Syosset hosted a meeting in January to discuss the proposed development of approximately 42 acres on Convent Road in Syosset by the Sisters of Mercy. The proposal includes plans to develop Mercy Pines on approximately 18 acres and another 23 acres would be developed as single family homes.

Late Tuesday night, the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate overrode the governor's veto of A. 8023/S. 4286 changing the date of the annual school district budget vote and school board elections from May 20 to June 3.

Jericho Jay Sox Split
On Sunday, April 27, finally under warm blue sunny skies, the Jericho Jay Sox fifth grade travel baseball team hit the road to take on the Albertson/Herricks Raiders in league action. The Jay Sox managed a split of the two games, taking the first game, 8-6, and dropping the second game 12-4.

Jericho Lacrosse Is Off and Running
The Jericho Lacrosse Club kicked off their Spring 2003 travel game schedules this past month of April. Both the third and fourth grade travel team coached by Peter Murphy and Evan Bower, and the fifth and sixth grade travel team coached by Jim Corcoran, Manny Benisatto, and Bob Boeggeman have played three of the eight scheduled games. The coaches are all very excited about the fantastic amount of children who have geared up to participate in the Jericho lacrosse program this spring, and the very promising opening performances demonstrated in the first three games of this season.
