This is in response to the letter published in the July 11 edition of the Syosset-Jericho Tribune. Councilwoman McCaffery and I have received countless complaints over the past 18 months concerning some questionable practices engaged in by local real estate agents involved in the sale of senior housing units. It is our responsibility to address these concerns and to propose changes to the law to prevent them from recurring. While our comments were not intended to malign an entire profession, they nevertheless represent the facts regarding the sale of these units. Unfortunately, sometimes the activities of a few can cast a shadow over the many. This was certainly not our intention and we did not mean to malign the many reputable and hard-working realtors in our community.
