Syosset Fire Department Spreads Holiday Cheer
The volunteer firefighters of the Syosset Fire Department suited up this weekend, but they replaced their helmets with red stocking caps, their bunker pants with red velvet suits, and added buckles and beards. Instead of hoses and ladders, these fire-fighting Santas carried sacks filled with candy for the children and families of Syosset.

Nancy Cook Honored at Woman of Achievement
Last month, the Eastern Long Island Branch of Women's League for Conservative Judaism honored its best and brightest leaders for 2003 at Woodbury Jewish Center. Nancy Cook, co-president of Temple Beth Torah Sisterhood was TBTs choice for Women of Achievement. Cook, a working mom to David and stepsons Brian and Russell, has always been active in the Sisterhood. As co-president, she has initiated two very successful activities - ceramics night for moms and children and the Rabbi's Book Talk. Her smiling face can always be seen around Temple Beth Torah. She is committed to Sisterhood and its efforts to raise money for the Torah Fund of Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City.

Syosset Runners Are Big Winners in 'Rob's Run' Cross Country 5K in Stillwell Woods
The 11th annual edition of Rob's Run was held on Sunday, Nov. 30, and it was no surprise that lots of local Syosset runners were big winners in a cross country race that was held at Stillwell Woods, directly across South Woods Road from Syosset High School.

SYAC Softball Announces Sign-Up Dates
SYAC Softball invites all girls in grades 2-8 interested in playing softball in the spring to attend one of the following "Evaluation and Registration" evenings: Tuesday, Jan. 6 for grades 6-8; Tuesday, Jan. 13 for grades 4-5; and Thursday, Jan. 22 for grades 2-3.
