The Knicks completed a great season by winning the boys basketball championship on March 21 at the Jericho High School gym. The Knicks finished the regular season with an 8-2 mark. They received a bye in the first round of the playoffs and then beat the Cavs 46-40 in the semi-finals. In an extremely hard fought final, the Knicks beat the regular season championship Nets by a 47-35 score. The Knicks were led by team MVP AJ Bauman, who played point guard on offense and often guarded the opposition's top scorer on defense.
Shooting guards Robbie Heimowitz and Charlie Fasano were consistent high scorers on offense, often getting easy baskets off a well timed fast break. Sweet shooting forwards Brian Heimowitz and Marc Roth spent the season filling up the hoop with long, jump shots. Much needed muscle under the basket was provided by leading rebounders Charles Rubinfeld and Jeremy Feinstein. Philip Fitzpatrick could always be counted on to come out of any scramble with the ball. Rough and ready Greg Ellner also was a key hustle contributor and inspirational leader with his work ethic and desire to succeed. The Knicks played the entire season as a cohesive unit. They practiced hard and it often translated into success in game situations. This was a championship team that worked for all the accolades they received and earned their title on the court.
