I am pleased to announce my candidacy for trustee of the Jericho Board of Education. As a Jericho resident since 1983, I have been in the forefront of most, if not all, of the major issues facing our community.
The one common thread woven through my efforts was how to best protect the interests of our school district. Whether it was re-opening the Seaman School, preserving the Underhill Property, preventing the over-development of the SUNY Old Westbury campus or opposing the mall at the Cerro Wire site, my primary concern was to ensure that none of these proposals negatively impacted our children, our schools and our neighborhoods.
I've been active in school district matters and have regularly attended board meetings for the past decade. Over the last several years, my involvement in the school system has expanded. I am a charter member of the Jericho School District Industry Advisory Board and serve on the Career Day committee. I've participated in the District Goals workshops and am a committee co-chair for the Jericho Relay for Life. I've worked hard to develop many community relationships through my school district and civic activities. My desire to serve our community remains a passion. As a trustee on the Jericho Board of Education, I will continue to listen to the concerns of all community members and bring your opinions forward.
With escalating fiscal demands and increasingly complex educational issues facing the District, our community deserves a cohesive Board of Education. School Board members must be willing to work together in order to be effective and efficient. I feel confident that with my help, the Board of Education can find new and innovative ways for our district to soar to new heights. I ask for your support and your vote on May 18th as I seek election to the Jericho Board of Education.
