On Oct. 19, Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs was the special guest speaker at the Residents for a More Beautiful Syosset fall meeting at the Syosset VFW Hall. There was standing room only at the meeting, which was a tribute to Jacobs and all of the work she has done for Syosset residents.
Jacobs, who secured the funds for a new pedestrian project in downtown Syosset, gave details of the project that is currently being constructed at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Underhill Boulevard.
According to Jacobs, the project will provide safer access for pedestrians using the Long Island Rail Road and visiting the downtown shops. Jacobs also detailed ideas for improving pedestrian and vehicular safety for other roads in downtown, along Jackson Avenue and throughout Syosset and Woodbury. She responded to many questions and concerns from members of the audience. Jacobs was presented with a special award from Residents for a More Beautiful Syosset for her many years of public service and dedication to her community.
Residents for a More Beautiful Syosset is proud to work with Jacobs and other local, elected officials as the organization seeks to make Syosset a safer and even more beautiful hamlet. For further information, please visit www.syosset.org or call 364-2649
