Nassau County residents will be given a chance to vote to preserve open space to protect drinking water by passing the $50 million County bond to create the Nassau Open Space, Clean Water Environmental Program. The program will provide a dedicated fund that will be overseen by a Citizens Advisory Committee.

Over-development and pollution are jeopardizing our priceless natural resources. For a cost of just $7 per average household, this program will preserve open space to protect drinking water, address storm water runoff problems, enhance parks and redevelop existing park properties.

Oyster Bay residents can vote for a second bond, the SEA Fund II, which will continue the work of SEA Fund I, passed by an overwhelming majority of voters in 2000. This bond act will enable the town to work with the county to acquire open space for protection of drinking water and continue to improve parks. It will cost the average household only $1.35 per month.

Our children and grandchildren deserve the same quality of life we have enjoyed over the years. Please vote yes for these necessary environmental programs.
