Syosset Fire Commissioner Elections Set for Tuesday
In April, New York State Superintendent of Insurance Gregory Serio and Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced the arrest of Richard Meinhardt, commissioner of the Syosset Fire District, for allegedly submitting falsified documents in an attempt to obtain Firefighters Workers' Compensation benefits.

Weather Cooperates for Syosset Holiday Lighting Festival
The Syosset Chamber of Commerce held their annual Holiday Lighting Festival on Sunday, Dec. 5 in downtown Syosset. This year, the weather cooperated after the festivities were canceled last year due to a severe snowstorm that hit the area. Residents gathered in the north parking lot of the Astoria Federal Savings Bank Plaza on Jackson Ave. to attend the festivities, which put everyone in the holiday spirit.

Jericho Athletic Association Basketball in Full Swing
The Jericho Athletic Association's Intramural and Travel basketball season is in full swing. With over 700 children participating, from first grade through 10th grade, and with 10 travel teams competing throughout Long Island, basketball is definitely a favorite sport for the kids in our community.
