Author Meg Wolitzer Visits Syosset During Public Library Luncheon at Fox Hollow Inn
Growing up in Syosset gave Meg Wolitzer plenty of material to write short stories, screenplays and seven successful novels - two of which were made into movies. Wolitzer recently visited her childhood hometown during Syosset Public Library's third annual author luncheon at Fox Hollow Inn restaurant to discuss books, writing and her latest novel, The Position, available from Scribner in bookstores now.

SFD Responds to Fast Moving Fire at Hidden Ridge Condo Complex
The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department (SFD) responded to a fast moving fire in the Hidden Ridge condominium complex on Thursday evening, April 14. The initial report came in through 911, with a frantic caller advising of a serious fire at unit 204 on Fen Way in the gated complex just north of Jericho Turnpike. The SFD transmitted the initial alarm at 7:48 p.m. With smoke visible from the distance, an immediate request for mutual aid was made for units from the Oyster Bay, East Norwich, Jericho and Hicksville Fire Departments.

Play Ball! JAA Kicks Off Season With Opening Day Parade
Spring has arrived and the Jericho baseball season is upon us once again. The Jericho Athletic Association (JAA) tradition of having an opening day baseball parade was welcomed this year with a beautiful day. On Saturday morning, April 9, over 700 baseball participants, along with their coaches and parents, marched from the Milleridge Inn to the Jackson School baseball fields with all future major leaguers in their colorful baseball uniforms.

Jericho Stars Have Successful Season
The girls' fifth-grade travel basketball team, the Jericho Stars, completed its first season with a winning record of 8-4. The girls practiced hard all season and learned to play at a more competitive level. Besides learning many new skills, they made new friends and had lots of fun. The team was well supported by parents and friends who came to all the games. All the girls should be proud of themselves for all their hard work.
