The Jericho Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their annual Fire Prevention Day Open House on Sunday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place behind the current headquarters on North Broadway.

There will be rides on the fire engines, refreshments, giveaways and a raffle with the proceeds going toward worthy causes and various fire-fighting demonstrations.

They will also have the smokehouse for children to go through. This hands-on trailer helps to teach what to do in the event of a fire in the home. In addition, members will be available to answer questions for those who are interested in joining the fire department, for firefighting, medical or both.

The Jericho Fire department is comprised of over 120 dedicated men and women who answer close to 1,000 alarms yearly, responding to fire, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, vehicle extrications and more.
