Three SYAC Girls Softball travel teams were in action this past weekend in lovely early fall weather.

The Syosset Flames topped the Syosset Fire in both ends of an exciting doubleheader on September 25 at H.B. Thompson Middle School in Syosset. The Flames sprinted to a 19-3 victory in the first game, then scratched out an 11-9 win in the second game. The Fire led for much of the second game, in what was a well-attended crosstown match-up of two U10 travel teams.

The Syosset Xtreme dropped two games to the Three Villages Bombers at Hap Harris Field in Syosset on September 25. The Xtreme lost the first game 10-0 but then jumped to an early lead in the second game before falling behind 10-5. Dana Singer was sparkling in the field, initiating two double plays. Solid pitching was contributed by Jenn Zink, Kristen Carton and Dana Aronowitz for the U12 Xtreme.

Former Yankee Rusty Torres led a fielding clinic for SYAC travel players on September 24. Known as "The Defensive Specialist," Torres stressed the mental preparedness that must accompany good mechanics and physical fitness.
