Syosset and Woodbury residents re-elected Dennis Henderickson fire commissioner of the Syosset Fire District on Tuesday. He received 709 votes to Stuart Zucker's 562 votes. These tallies represent the second highest vote total in Syosset in modern record keeping days.

This will be Henderickson's second term as commissioner and he will serve for another five years.

"I would first like to thank the community, the board, the volunteer members and all who came out to vote in this very important election," said Henderickson. "I am very excited to be able to serve the community for another five years and it is my pleasure to say that Mr. Zucker ran a spirited campaign and I look forward to working with him as a volunteer."

Henderickson continued, "The 2006 budget presented us with some unique one-time challenges some of which were mandated and beyond our control. Our highest priority for the coming year is to assure that we bring the 2007 budget back in line with our normal operating expenses and I am confident that we will be able to accomplish this with the help of our members and the community.
