Syosset Baseball Association recently announced that the New York Mets Baseball Academy Camp has set the dates for their camp to be in Syosset this upcoming August 2006 camp season.

In its third year with Syosset Baseball Association, the New York Mets Baseball Academy has taken its camp from various sites throughout the tri-state area to Syosset's fields.

Dates for the camp: Aug. 21 to 25 and Aug. 28 to Sept. 2.

Registration is open only to players in Syosset Baseball Association. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Players can register for either week or both weeks. The registration cut-off date is June 1. This past year's camp sessions were overbooked and players were turned away.

Camp will run from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. each day for the week and is open to players from ages 6 through 12 years old. The 6-year-old age group will have a half-day session from 9 a.m. to noon.

Cost per week is $275 per player for ages 7 - 12 and $150 per player for the 6-year-old age group. Checks are payable to Syosset Baseball Association. The registration form can be found on its website www.syossetbaseball.org or can be faxed via request to secretary@syosset baseball.org. All completed registration forms are to be mailed to: Syosset Baseball Association, PO Box 302, Syosset, NY 11791.

Checks will be immediately deposited upon receipt, however, confirmation from The New York Mets Baseball Academy will be forthcoming prior to the start of camp.

At camp this past summer the players enjoyed visits by former New York Mets Ed Kranepool and Lenny Randle providing their professional insight into the game, giving hands-on tips to players. Additionally, all attending campers had an opportunity to join other campers, from other sites, at New York Mets Baseball Academy Nite at Shea Stadium where all players were able to take to the Shea Stadium warning track during the National Anthem, enjoy the game in the picnic area and have a private autograph session prior to the game with many of their current and favorite New York Mets, as well as a special appearance from 1986 New York Met, George Foster, who mingled among the crowd.

This and other calendar of events can be found on its website www.syossetbaseball.org
