First Lieutenant Matthew D. Lynch

The Jericho School District will dedicate a new high school varsity swim record board in memory of First Lieutenant Matthew D. Lynch on Thursday, December 22, at 4:30 p.m. in the swimming pool area. Lynch, a 1997 Jericho High School graduate and officer in the United States Marine Corps, was killed in the line of duty on October 31, 2004, in Iraq.

Lynch holds 8 of 11 swim records at Jericho, including 6 individual records and 2 team relay records. The First Marine Corps District Color Guard will be present at the dedication. Interested members of our community are welcome to attend the ceremony. After the dedication, the Jericho Boys Varsity Swim Team will compete against Wantagh High School beginning at 4:45 p.m. For further information, please contact the Jericho Athletic office at 203-3600, ext. 3249.
