Four members of the 2005 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) for academic and on-field accomplishments.
Seniors Jen Goebel, a resident of Jericho, and Meg, along with juniors Lindsey Kimura and Jessie McKenzie, were named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Team, which recognizes outstanding student-athletes in Divisions I-III. McKenzie was placed on the first team, Goebel and Kimura earned a second team nod, and McIntosh took a third team spot.
For Goebel, this was her second year in a row on the Scholar All-East team, taking third team honors in 2004.
Johns Hopkins was the only institution to have four players named to the All-East team and was one of six nationally to have at least four players named to the Scholar All-Region teams. Division I National Champion Portland led the group, placing six players on the All-West Region Team.
A pair of Blue Jays also earned Division III All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors, as McKenzie took a first team spot on defense, while McIntosh earned a second-team nod at forward.
McIntosh led the team in scoring with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points. McKenzie finished just behind her with seven goals and six assists for 20 points.
Hopkins finished the 2005 season with a 16-4-1 overall record, 7-2-1 in Centennial Conference play with a conference tournament title. The Blue Jays advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history with a win in penalty kicks over Rowan on Nov. 12.
