Each year the New York State Public High School Athletic Association recognizes varsity athletic teams around the state as scholar/athlete teams when they achieve a 90 percent academic average during their season. The team with the highest average in their sport is declared the scholar/athlete state champion.
The Jericho High School Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team was honored as the Scholar/Athlete State Champions for the 2005 fall sports season. The team placed first out of 183 teams in the state with a combined average of 97.636 percent. The Jericho High School Girls Varsity Swim and Diving Team is the seventh Scholar/Athlete State Championship Team at Jericho in the state's 15 years of honoring scholar/athlete teams.
