Syosset Pee Wee Black Football beat major rival North Babylon to win the 2005 Superbowl Championship. Syosset Black controlled the game from the opening series, marching to the goal line only to be stopped a foot short. But the swarming defense held and stopped North Babylon for a safety with Jake Mitchnick, Richie Prestegaard, and Vinnie Speranza leading the charge. Upon getting the ball back, Syosset controlled the clock with a steady diet of off-tackle runs and gashes up the middle by Cole Samaroo, and Perry "Crazy Legs" Lehrhoff, courtesy of gaping holes opened by linemen Jack Parlo, Derek Napolitano, Jonah DiMaggio, Evan Lowitt, Ben Wachtel and Eric Aronson.
Scores in the first half came on a combination of power football as well as misdirection with Perry Lehrhoff scoring twice, and Vinnie Speranza adding one extra point and Jake Mitchnick adding two with yet another made field goal. One touchdown was set up by a thunderous hit by Jonathan Klobus, jarring the ball loose for a fumble - a hit heard around the town. Another was set up by Jordan Rauch staying at home on a reverse and collecting a hit and fumble recovery play.
The Braves came out fired up for the second half, leading 17-0. Dominance was established with more ball control offense mixed with some nifty misdirection, complementing Syosset's brick-wall defense. Everyone on the team contributed. Big tackles and key blocks were contributed by Josh Simoncic, Jake Rothman, Drew Wood, Robert Friedmann, Andrew Weld, "Fast" Eddie Fox, and Daniel "Double D" Cutler. On offense, the second half featured more Lehrhoff and Samaroo, but also big contributions in the ground game from Michael "Hots" Hatzopolous, putting up more touchdowns, leading to the final 31-14 score.
Head Coach Chris Parlo, coming off a 1-10 season in 2004, held high the championship trophy and complimented North Babylon for a game hard-fought and added "This season was a total team effort, the kids worked really hard, and man, is this sweet!"
