Each year, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association recognizes varsity athletic teams around the state as scholar/athlete teams when they achieve a 90 percent academic average during their sport season. The team with the highest grade point average in its sport is declared the Scholar/Athlete State Champion. Jim Tolle, past president of NYSPHSAA, awarded three Jericho teams with the State Championship banner at the March 23, board of education meeting. The Jericho High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team, Boys Varsity Bowling Team and Girls Varsity Bowling Team all received the prestigious honor. Jericho is only the third school district to earn three Scholar/Athlete Championships in the same sports season in the 15-year history of this awards program.

The Jericho High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team was honored as the Scholar/Athlete State Champion for the 2005 winter sports season. The team placed first out of 177 teams in the state with a combined average of 95.741 percent. Boys Varsity Basketball Team members include: Shane Birnbaum, Matt Cajuste, Matt Checkla, Will Coyle, Matt Friedman, Andrew Hutner, Brian Kahn, Peter Mastropietro, Josh Morey, Lee Novick, Justin Resnick, Max Rosenberg, Adam Sanders, Ryan Saunders, Mike Sinn, Russell Taff and Josh Witsell.

The Boys Varsity Bowling Team placed first out of 47 teams in the state with a combined average of 94.614 percent. Boys Varsity Bowling Team members include Kyle Birnbaum, Evan Brandoff, David Cohen, Andrew Coleman, Matt Coleman, Adam Feinstein, Sam Luftig, Michael Marinelli, Adam Pfau, Jason Rubenfeld, Alex Weller, Mark Wishnia and Jeff Zichlin.

The Girls Varsity Bowling Team placed first out of 65 teams in the state with a combined average of 96.292 percent. Girls Varsity Bowling Team members include: Dani Baltimore, Melissa Bernstein, Allison Birnbaum, Jillian Bucosky, Rebecca Buzen, Rebecca Gold, Tracy Goldberg, Stefanie Gould, Hayley Katz, Felicia Machover, Jennifer Krauser, Leyla Navi, Negin Navab, Tracy Rosenberg, Lindsey Steck and Melissa York.
