The third and fourth grade Jericho Girls Lacrosse Club ended their regular season on Sunday, June 4, with a very strong performance against a talented squad from Massapequa. Jericho scored the first three goals of the contest as a result of superb defense and excellent passing and shooting. The Massapequa team made a strong comeback in the second half bringing the score to 3 - 2 with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Jericho was able to prevail after several last second chances were turned away by a smothering defense.
The game was a very exciting contest with end-to-end action and the teams were very evenly matched. Both teams hustled for ground balls, made excellent passes, and tried their best for the entire game.
This game ended the regular season for the Jericho girls. They finished the season, their first time competing in an organized lacrosse league, with a record of five wins and one loss (5-1).
The girls have been invited to participate in a Lacrosse Jamboree on Saturday morning, June 17 at the Mitchell Field complex where the Long Island Lizards play their home games.
They are all looking forward to our fall clinic when we will work on our skills and welcome new players to the club.
